Parent Resources - Title I Family Engagement
TITLE I PARENT AND FAMILY ENGAGEMENT POLICY 2025-2026
The elementary schools in the Yough School District recognize that family engagement contributes to the achievement of academic standards by students. We view the education of students as a cooperative effort among the school, families, and community.
In compliance with federal law, the school and families of students jointly developed the following policy and annually review and improve the school wide plan during the Spring Parent Advisory Council meeting.
- Provide high-quality curriculum and instruction in a supportive and effective learning environment that enables the children to meet the state’s student academic achievement standards as follows:
- Scientifically research-based reading and math series student textbooks and core-based curricular resources
- Intervention techniques in the classroom
- Progress charted to drive instruction and communicate to parents as needed
- Students are provided with a one-to-one device to access curricular materials and intervention/enrichment opportunities
- Provide timely information to parents about Title I. Specifically,
- Fall Meet the Teacher Night to explain to families the Title I program, policies, requirements, and their right to be involved
- Distribute copies of this school parent and family engagement policy and the school-home compact and post them on the website
- Distribute resource materials and flyers concerning statewide standards, curriculum, assessment, and expected proficiency levels as needed
- Maintain an up-to-date school-level and Title I webpage
- Provide families with frequent reports on their children’s progress. Specifically:
- Report cards
- PowerSchool Parent Portal
- Informational letter if additional interventions are given
- In-person meetings, individual teacher communication platforms, Google Meet, and phone calls as necessary
- Provide families reasonable access to staff. Specifically, staff will be available for consultation by:
- Individually scheduled conferences
- Phone calls
- Alerts and other types of communication used by the school
- Provide opportunities for families to participate in their children’s learning. Specifically:
- Access to resources, available in each elementary building
- Opportunities to volunteer, provide input, and participate in their child’s class through periodic invitations from the teachers or principal
- Activities held to promote strong family engagement and help them to work with their children to improve their children’s achievement
- Reserve funds in the Title I budget for family engagement activities/resources; ensure that families are involved in decisions regarding how funds are allotted for family engagement activities

SCHOOL-HOME COMPACT
Our elementary schools and the families of the students agree that this compact outlines how the families, the entire school staff, and the students will share the responsibility for improved student academic achievement and how the school and families will build and develop a partnership that will help children achieve the State’s high standards. This school-parent compact is in effect during school year 2025-2026.
SCHOOL
Our elementary school recognizes that family involvement contributes to the achievement of academic standards by students. We view the education of students as a cooperative effort among the school, families, and community. The school will:
- Ensure that your child is able to achieve the state’s standards through high-quality, effective instruction.
- Invite you to family involvement activities that we develop to assist you in working with your child.
- Regularly communicate with you concerning your child’s progress.
- Periodically request your input related to academics and parent involvement through surveys and meetings.
- Provide materials as needed for your use as you work with your child.
- Provide copies of the school’s and district’s policies related to family involvement and complaint procedures.
STUDENT
I know my education is very important to me and will help me become a better person. I know my family wants me to do well in school, but I am the one who has to do the work. Therefore, I agree to do the following to the best of my ability:
- Take home to my family all corrected work and papers received by me from my teacher.
- Have homework completed and be prepared for my classes and tests, which includes having my Chromebook charged and ready for the next day.
- Respect my school, the staff, my classmates, my family, and myself.
- Pay attention, be cooperative and ask for help when needed.
- Follow the school rules and rules in my classroom, including the positive behavioral interventions and supports.
- Know and work on meeting the daily expectations set by my teachers.
PARENT/CAREGIVER
I realize that my child’s education is very important, and I understand that my participation and support are essential to my child’s achievement and attitude. Therefore, I agree to carry out the following responsibilities to the best of my ability:
- Give my child a quiet place to study.
- Engage and assure that my child completes his/her homework and is prepared for the next school day.
- Make sure my child receives well-balanced nutrition, gets enough sleep each night and arrives to school on time each day unless an illness or emergency arises.
- Encourage my child to respect himself/herself, classmates, staff, and property.
- Make sure my child reads and writes daily and positively uses out-of-school time.
- Attend school-family events when I am able and parent meetings when necessary.
