 K Registration/Readiness Screening

If you reside in the Yough School District and have a child who will be 5-years-old on or before September 1, 2026, this information is for you.

Kindergarten registration for the 2026-2027 School Year will begin on March 2, 2026. You may pick up a registration packet at your child's elementary school between the hours of 10:00 AM and 3:00 PM on any school day by taking the following required documents:

* 2 proofs of residency in the district(e.g. utility bill, mortgage or lease, drivers license)

*Your child's birth certificate

*Your child's immunization records

Upon presenting these documents, you will receive our registration packet to take home and complete. Registration forms are to be completed as soon as possible and returned to the school prior to each school's set registration date.

Upon receipt of the completed packet, the school secretary will give you an appointment for the Kindergarten Screening in May.

LUNCH ACCOUNTS

If you wish to put money into your child's school lunch account, please log onto schoolcafe.com.  You will need to know your child's school ID#.  

You may also send the money in with your child and the cafeteria ladies will add it in to your child's account.

ENROLLING YOUR CHILD AT WEST NEWTON ELEMENTARY

Any new student(s)/transfer student(s) to West Newton Elementary School can pick up a registration packet and register at the elementary school.  Please visit 1208 Vine Street, West Newton if you need to enroll your child. Please bring: Birth Certificate, Immunization Record, and 2 proofs of residency.  Any questions, please call Mrs. Francine Huss at 724-872-5877 x6000.

SECURITY MEASURES FOR VISITORS

Our school currently uses the Hall Pass system.  This requires any visitor, parent or guardian who may be picking up a student to have their driver's license scanned.  This system checks to see if anyone entering our building is a Megan's Law offender.  There are no exceptions to this requirement.

  UP-TO-DATE RECORDS

We ask that you keep the office aware of any changes that may have occurred in addresses, phone numbers or emergency contacts so that we can keep

our records current.  This information is VITAL in case of any emergencies or for use in our District All-Call System.
