The Soft Skill of the Month

Yough School District is kicking off the 2016-17 school year with it's Career Awareness Initiative.  Part of the initiative is to bring awareness to the top Soft Skills employers look for in their employees.  What better way to prepare the future work force by introducing & reinforcing Soft Skills while they're in school?

Message from the Principal

Welcome to West Newton Elementary, "The Little School with Big Character!"  On behalf of our students and staff, I thank you for visiting us.  We are a school that values hard work, student achievement, emotional well-being, and positive relationships with our parents and caregivers.  We strive to provide our students with a quality educational experience.

West Newton is a happy and successful school with a strong community spirit.  We pride ourselves on our achievements, academic standards, and our high expectations for our students to succeed.  Our highly experienced staff are strongly committed to supporting and nurturing your child's abilities and are driven by a passion for excellence in education.

We are a pre-K to 4th grade school with approximately 240 pupils.  We are excited about our STEM and Career Readiness initiatives and continually implement new technologies and programs to further enhance your child's growth and development.

This year, our school's theme is: Pawsitively Roaring with Pride!

  • R - RESPECT
  • O - OBEY
  • A - ACHIEVE
  • R - RESPONSIBLE
  • S - SAFE

We provide a safe, caring, and inclusive environment in which children of all abilities can thrive.  We aim to meet our students' needs and enhance their learning through our well-planned and balanced curriculum.  We supplement this with a variety of enrichment activities, differentiated instruction, intervention systems, Title 1 support, and special education services.

We are proud of West Newton Elementary School and the opportunities it offers.  We look forward to welcoming you and your child to our school.
